# STDEV

Returns the estimated standard deviation based on a sample

## Syntax

```
STDEV(number1, [number_n])
```

## Arguments

| Argument    | Description                                                       | Required |
| ----------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | -------- |
| `number1` | The first number or reference corresponding to a sample of a population | Required |
| `number_n` | Additional numbers or references to include in the sample | Optional |
